MOTIVE
Formal OOT in action at Sheffield
The MOTIVE (Method for Object Testing, Integration and
Verification) project, funded by the UK's Engineering and Physical
Science Research Council, was run from Sheffield between 1999 and 2002. Strictly formal
in approach, the project resulted in a method for generating provably testable OO
systems based on the leading-edge formal theory of Stream X-Machines. An associated
software tool is under development, and is scheduled for release later in 2003.
We are currently constructing a series of pages relating to the MOTIVE project,
including in-depth explanations of X-machines and their uses by leading proponents
of the theory. We hope to put these online over coming weeks.
